In their first league game of the season, Lewes U16 Lionesses had a convincing win over the East Sussex Barbarians U16s (Hastings & Seaford “SeaStings”). With multiple tries from Edith, Lara and Lucy the game was finished in the first half. To their credit, the Barbarians continued to fight and secured themselves a try at the final whistle. Both teams were unable to field a full 15, so played 12 a-side, and the BaBas had no front row so unfortunately the scrums went uncontested. No matter, all of the Lionesses played a significant part in the win and the impact players did just that, coming on and affecting the game very positively. The coaches were very pleased to see all the players running support lines, tackling and working hard in D and getting to the breakdown quickly. The support on the touchline was fantastic. All in all, a very pleasing start to the season. Final score. 54-5
