At Lewes RFC, we are proud of our great tradition as a family club, providing players of all abilities and genders with a safe and caring environment in which to learn the game.

We promote the 'spirit of rugby' which recognizes and rewards effort as much as achievement and encourages enjoyment, teamwork and respecting the efforts of others.

The club aims to foster the best possible relations with other clubs and members of the general public, fully engaging with the local community.

Our values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship (TREDS) make our environment special. To protect this culture, we’d like to remind all spectators:

  • Stay Off the Pitch: Entering the field of play, no matter what the intention, is strictly forbidden without the referee’s permission.
  • Serious Consequences: Under RFU Rule 5.12, punishments for entering the field or confronting officials are severe. They include long bans for individuals, 1st XV points deductions, and financial penalties for the club.
  • Respect the Officials: Match Official Abuse (MOA) is a national issue discouraging people from officiating. In alignment with Sussex RFU, we have zero tolerance for MOA.
  • The 30-Minute Rule: Per RFU Regulation 12.5, no person shall approach the Match Officials at half-time or for 30 minutes after the match to discuss any issue. The Referee’s changing room is also strictly off-limits.
